Still..?[edit]

Can Transkei still be used as a reference to the area (for example like people still refer to the Transvaal region)? I was on google maps in Mthatha and some shops still hold titles of Transkei (such as Transkei's Advanced Driving School). Bezuidenhout (talk) 14:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what the attitudes of the people on the ground are, but Transkei originated as a pseudo-Latinate geographical term meaning "on the other side of the river Kei" (just as Transylvania means "on the other side of the forest", etc.). AnonMoos (talk) 20:06, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"nominal"[edit]

Please explain in some detail the usage of the term "nominal", used multiple times here. Loew Galitz (talk) 00:14, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has a link; what explanation are you looking for? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 00:21, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just did a search for Nominal independence... despite the fact that the term is used various times in a number of places, it has no article; perhaps it should have. Giving an explanation here would go beyond the scope of this topic. For now, the wiktionary link will do. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 00:51, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
