The premise now in place is that PPPOA is used to "prevent users from running their own servers at home" seems a bit unlikely. I am using this kind of connection and never had any difficulty running servers. ( 09:53, 30 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Page move proposal[edit]

PPPoA - PPPoE Overhead Percentage Difference[edit]

From what I understand there's 8 fewer bits in a PPPoA Encapsulated Packet so the difference should be: 0.536% Anyone have any ideas, or care to explain where I'm going wrong?

Packet size is also smaller as the encapsulated packet must fit within ethernets MTU. This will also have a slight effect on efficiancy and more importantly will cause lots of issues with badly configured firewalls. Plugwash 15:51, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Cisco Router example[edit]

Why is an example of Cisco Router config commands useful to the majority of the reading comunity? If fact why should we single out one particular vendor example? I believe this should be deleted and replaced with possibly more generic detailed information. Carl Pimblett 11:47, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

PPPoA in Australia[edit]

Edited sentence about configuration[edit]

I have edited the sentence about auto-configuration to make it easier to understand and read. It is a minor change which does not alter the meaning/contents other than reducing the complexity of the sentence. SplatMan DK (talk) 10:25, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Added reference[edit]

Configuration - Modulation[edit]

Modulaton, such as G.dmt, has nothing to do with either PPP or ATM - it is a property of the ADSL modem. So it this article meant to be about the PPPoA protocol or how to set up an ADSL modem? 108.171.134.165 (talk) 03:33, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
