Untitled[edit]

If you're not going add another column, such as president(s) served under/appointed by, then I suggest moving it to bullet point form to avoid the html. For example:

Of more importance is the US President of the time, not the UN Secretary General, since it is the president who appoints the ambasador. --Jiang 03:06, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

It seems like it would be good to add information on how the ambassador can be appointed, and how long the appointement lasts. Here is some information, but it is only on recess appointments: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/allpolitics/0508/recess.appointments/frameset.exclude.html Insulanus 05:29, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[]

Geraldine Ferraro[edit]

Didn't Representative Geraldine Anne Ferraro (D-NY) serve as a UN Ambassador for Bill Clinton. Shouldn't she be added?

To the UN Commission on Human Rights, in Geneva. Not New York. Wl219 07:09, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[]

cABINET?[edit]

Is this considered a Cabinet-Level positionTherequiembellishere 23:00, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[]

I believe it was under Clinton, but not under Dubya. Wl219 07:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[]

US ambassadors to other UN agencies[edit]

We should also cover US ambassadors to other UN offices, like the UN offices in Geneva and Vienna. I believe they are also Senate-confirmed and hold full ambassador rank. Wl219 07:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[]

Susan Rice[edit]

As Susan Rice is not yet the incumbent, she should be kept off the list.Saberwolf116 (talk) 18:37, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[]

Move discussion in process[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of Australian ambassadors to the United Nations which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RFC bot 10:01, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[]

Madeline Albright discontinuity[edit]

Madeline Albright's term is screwed up.

Terms overlap?[edit]

  • Warren Austin January 14, 1947-January 22, 1953
  • Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr.January 12, 1953 – September 2, 1960

you got Lodge starting before Austin ends — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.127.22.85 (talk) 00:25, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[]

@97.127.22.85: Nice catch! I have changed the start of Lodge's term to January 26 based on this article in the Chicago Tribune that conveniently reports on everything Lodge did on the day he assumed this office. Mathew5000 (talk) 08:35, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[]

Acting Ambassador[edit]

Why aren't they included? --Volvlogia (talk) 20:37, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[]

...they are included? Michele J. Sison has been listed as Acting after Samantha Power's departure. Gabe Iglesia (talk) 21:04, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[]

Table's messed up[edit]

It makes it appear, for example, as Dag Hammarskjöld served as Secretary-General from 1947–1961, when in reality he served from 1953–61. If one Ambassador served during the terms of multiple Secretaries-General, the table should reflect that. António Guterres was Secretary-General for only the final weeks of Samantha Power's term, but it makes it seem like he served for all four years she was in office. MB298 (talk) 01:09, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[]

I'm pretty sure there's a way to stagger the entries so that it doesn't look as if they started at the halfway point into someone's tenure (i.e. stagger it so that for example Guterres started just barely at the end of Power's tenure), but I currently can't recall what the markup looks like. Gabe Iglesia (talk) 17:42, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[]

Doesn't Eleanor Roosevelt belong in the table of ambassadors?76.254.27.115 (talk) 03:42, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[]
