Greetings[edit]
Welcome Bob,
You have done a good job so far in Wikipedia (a.k.a. 'Pedia or WP). I can see that you're a serious Wikipedian interested in improving our project. If you stay for a while, you'll discovered that collectively, we're a cooperative and friendly community. We are all here to learn, and hopefully can give something back. If you have questions or doubts of any sort, do not hesitate to post them on the Village Pump, somebody will respond ASAP. Other helpful pages include:
Just keep in mind that while relevant discussions and constructive criticisms and are welcome, unproductive and/or destructive insults are not (see Wikiquette & Wikipedia:Neutral point of view).
Who knows? Perhaps you'll soon become a Wikipediholic in the list of Wikipedia:Most active Wikipedians! :-) --Menchi 06:46, 13 Sep 2003 (UTC)
p.s. Simply type four tildes (~~~~), then you can sign you name and date like I just did with mine. And please always do so after your post in Talk/discussion pages and Village Pump.
Bath Party (not to be confused with the popular social event, the bath party)[edit]
Hi there
I see it looks suspiciously like you read this article. I had a reasonably heavy involvement in editing more or less the first half of it lately, and would really appreciate an opinion from a more-or-less outside oberver of how the article as a whole reads, how clear it is, and how it could be improved as an article (quite a lot, is my view). If you have any thoughts, feel free to stick them on the talk page.
Cheers, Palmiro | Talk 22:20, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
- I always wondered if the U.S. soldiers guarding Saddam ever thought about having a "bath party" with him. That would make an awesome photo. --Rschmertz 01:25, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
On Urigeul[edit]
Hi, this is about the names of Hangul. Urigeul (RR) or uri kŭl (MR) seems correct. I'm willing to bet uri k'ŭl is an error. --KJ 06:58, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Let's see what Wikipeditor has got to say about it. --KJ 07:10, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
Albania[edit]
Hi You've made a good point there and I've noted it on the discussion page. I'm not sure exactly how much needs removing to do it myself, but I'd support the change. Zagubov 10:23, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Your question(?)[edit]
You asked a question on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts. Does Wikipedia talk:WikiProject User scripts#What.27s_A_User_Script.3F answer your question, or did you mean that WP/JS neads a better introduction? If so, did you have any opinions on the matter? Shinobu 08:39, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- By this time I've figured out what User scripts are and how to use them, so I personally don't need any questions answered. But I think my complaint is pretty straightforward, and still valid. I think the subtopic you linked to seems to give a pretty decent explanation (could probably be improved, but it's a good start), but I couldn't find it when I was looking for the answer, and something like this needs to be easy to find. If this is the only place that explains in layman's terms what a user script is, it definitely shouldn't be question #27 on that page; it should either be question number 1, or in the intro, or at the least there should be a link to a separate description page in the overview. --Rschmertz 14:13, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right. I'll add a section to Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts; feel free to edit it. Shinobu 15:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- Good, thanks. I hadn't even noticed that it was on the Talk page, not on the main page. I may well flesh it out a bit more when I get the time. --Rschmertz 15:48, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Length of horn[edit]

Proposed Wikiproject: Musical Instruments[edit]
What do you think? akuyumeTC 03:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, if 24 merits a project, then musical instruments certainly does. I hope it doesn't mean more work, and what I don't get is whether and how projects are really beneficial to WP. --Rschmertz 05:28, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the advice. I'll take that into consideration. Illuminatiscott 01:21, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Re: Spelling Corrections[edit]
Hi,
Thanks for your comment. I'm trying to correct these articles in order for them to use the same dialect throughout, which is the first point in the link you sent me. I usually read through the article to see which is more commonly used and then make the corrections.
Hope this cleared things up. 2help 19:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Bad Revert[edit]
I'm sorry, I have no idea what happened back there. Persistent vandal, I reverted to Kukini's previous version, and somehow a section went missing. Not too sure about that. I apologise if I've made any error, but it seems like just a case of processing speed. - SpLoT // 07:52, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Evgjit[edit]
Here are two sources: http://www.mfa.gov.al/english/pdf_files/Komentet_anglisht.pdf ( in detail)
http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=als (brief mention)
Not sure why you said it was unsourced as I had listed the Ethnologue in my edit...
azalea_pomp —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Azalea pomp (talk • contribs) 00:16, 27 March 2007 (UTC).
- You may have had a source, but you really just mentioned it sort of vaguely. I did a Google search on (ethnologue evgjit) and got no results, so I didn't understand what you meant. And an edit comment from User:UberCryxic, whom I generally I trust on Albanian things, made your edits look suspicious.
- Since there is some controversy or misunderstanding about this group, I think you should include the sources above as references. --Rschmertz 02:57, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ethnologue Evgjit will not find anything as they list them as Jevgjit. Azalea pomp 04:40, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Notability of Global mobile Suppliers Association[edit]
A tag has been placed on Global mobile Suppliers Association, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --ROGER TALK 18:20, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Willie Nelson[edit]
Hi, I have worked on the Willie Nelson article for a while now, and after failing a GA nomination I posted it for copy-edit review. Since the template of the Guild is not there anymore, do you think that is good enough for a new review?--Gduwen (talk) 20:28, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Gduwen,
- My removal of the template was based on the text within the template: "If this page has not been edited for several hours [the template may be removed]". The template was put in place on 1 March, and as of 13 March there had been no activity for a number of days. Therefore it was apparent that there was no ongoing serious work by serious copy editors, and I saw no point in occasional editors like myself being blocked from making improvements. Any movement towards GA status seemed to me to have lost steam.
- In my recent spate of edits to Willie Nelson I just did a quick run-through of obvious grammar/prose/cohesion problems I saw, and was not thorough about it, so my assessment would be that it's still not really close to GA status. If you would like more copyedit work on it, I don't know off the top of my head what the right way to go about it is, but to me the GOCE template, rather than being an invitation for help, was saying "don't mess with this while we're working on it". But, clearly, no one was working much on it. --Rschmertz (talk) 06:00, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I just wanted to know if you thought that the article was ready. It's ok to remove the GOCE template, and I agree it's not very friendly either, but it was placed by the guy that was correcting the copyedits. Anyway I think that the article its good enough in its content, but I would really appreciate some help with the copyedits that give me a hard time. (if you can do it, better). Thanks, I wait for your reply.--GDuwenTell me! 01:43, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
ArbCom elections are now open![edit]
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hoseshoe crabs just got a lot younger[edit]
An astute editor just noticed that your February 2012 edit to Horseshoe crab inserted the dubious claim that these creatures dated from 450 mya (Ordovician), when in fact they are Triassic. Countless edits later, somebody compares the claim to the geologic time scale atop the taxobox, and, voilà! Undone at last... Just had to let you know.--Quisqualis (talk) 05:57, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
