Major Danby is a character -- an intellectual professor in civilian life who is ill-suited to the rough-and-tumble military -- in Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I, on the other hand, am an attorney, political operative, and former (and perhaps future) academic in my early 60s now living in Brea, California.
