- Please verify all the information about rappers' uses of the word "Thug." --N Shar 04:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Contrary to popular belief, a person who leads a "Thug Life" is not a criminal. The acronym made popular by the great rapper Tupac Shakur has nothing to do with being a "gangsta" or anything of the sort, rather, it stands for all the socially oppressive things we are taught at a young age that negatively affects us (or society) as adults.
When parents teach their children to hate a certain group of people because they are "different" than them, that in turn "fucks everyone," and the people who are victims of that hate, live a "Thug Life"
Many people who aren't familiar with Tupac's work commonly mistaken the phrase as someone who is a "gangsta", lowlife, "criminal," etc. not realising that there is much more to the acronym than meets the eye . (source: urban directory, based on pacs definition of the Thug Life)
An unusual use of the word[edit]
- The Daily Telegraph newspaper's 'magazine' (= one if its supplements) for Saturday 27 Feb 2010 page 38 column 3 describing the 2010 Haiti earthquake has "thugga-thugga" for the rotor noise of a CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:02, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Who?[edit]
I'm curious -- just who are "Garrett Weaver, Robert Lincoln, David Gann, and sometimes Moody", who were added by User:208.79.15.162 a few days ago? DutchmanInDisguise (talk) 22:18, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
