Jamaica[edit]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Jamaican city by far the most well-known and important city of the name? If so, this page should be about that city, with this list at Kingston (disambiguation). Tuf-Kat 03:20, Sep 23, 2003 (UTC)

It depends where you live. There are Kingston's everywhere in the world, I don't think Kingston, Jamaica is up their with Paris or London as far as international recognition goes. --Chuq 03:35, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Kingston upon Thames[edit]

I think in particular Kingston upon Thames and also the London Borough of Kingston (not linked at all!) need more prominence here. Morwen - Talk 12:29, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The Kingston RAM Brand is missing[edit]

As I can see, correct me if I'm wrong, the Kingston RAM Brand is missing

Primary topic[edit]

Personally, I think Kingston in an international context (which is the way Wikipedia should look at it) can safely be assumed to refer to the capital of Jamaica, and thus that city should get the unqualified title. Anyone want to move it? Rhomboid Man 02:26, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I doubt it. There are just too many, like Victoria. Please leave it as-is (Kingston, Jamaica is the first one in the list). Far too many ignorant or busy editors will simply link to Kingston without looking at what the target really is - there are over 50 links here now. --Scott Davis Talk 10:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Also as a point, considering the rest of the list is alphabetical, why is Jamaica stuck above the rest, shouldn't it follow the normal alphabetical listing like everything else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.82.243 (talk) 09:49, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Because Jamaica's Kingston is by far the most likely one for people to look for. At present, we're inconveniencing the majority of our readers by making them scroll down to the one they're looking for. Putting it back. (And really, I think the article about the Jamaican city should be here, not the dab. I'll see if I get around to bringing it up later.) Original name[edit]

Heeeeey. Just a-wonderin'. Isn't the original the one in London? Serminigo 21:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
