Problem[edit]
We have a bit of a problem here. As you can see, the name of the article is Yar's Revenge. However, the name of the game is Yars' Revenge. Yes, that's correct, the apostrophe goes AFTER the letter 's'. I did a little bit of research and found that on all releases of the game, including the gameboy version, the apostrophe does come after the the 's'. However, if you read the game manual, you will find that the hero of the story is named simply Yar, not Yars. So therefore the title is spelled incorrectly.
So we must make a choice. Should the article title remain the grammatically correct Yar's Revenge, or should with use the original, incorrect spellin, Yars' Revenge? Please take the opportunity to vote here, and if you can please explain the reason for your choice. Thank you. - Dan Mazurowski
There is just a misunderstanding. The character in the game isn't named Yar, he is a Yar. If you read the back of the box this is made clear. -Nydigovoth
No problem. Its a species. One Yar, two Yars. One Yar would have a personal "Yar's Revenge". But the player represents the species, so it is indeed gramatically correct to say "Yars' Revenge"
- Grammatical Yar Scout. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.69.12.130 (talk) 16:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Cassette tape[edit]
I remember a cassette from the mid 80s which I think was a dramatic reading of the Yars' Revenge mini comic book. It wasn't available for very long, and was probably promotional. I don't think it was ever packaged with the game, though it may have been packaged with a book. Is this familiar to anyone else? It would be interesting to add this info to the article. CyborgTosser
I found it. I will add the info to the article. CyborgTosser
Gameplay[edit]
Seems to me there are some gameplay features not mentioned here. I specifically remember that at higher levels, instant swirl shots would be introduced, and the neutral zone disappeared. I'm not sure that the 2600 at my parents house is still functional, and highly doubt I could obtain such levels of Yar prowess nowadays. Anyone else? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.69.12.130 (talk) 16:34, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- This is true, it does get more difficult with increasing speed and a disappearing neutral zone.--KJRehberg (talk) 19:40, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- The difficulty of the swirl is affected purely by your score. The difficulty of the missile is affected by the number of levels cleared. After enough are cleared, you will get a set of two levels with no neutral zone. Then it will return, but for two less levels then it was there before. This repeats until you end up with a cycle of 2 levels with neutral zone, and two without. With this in mind.. EAT EVERY CELL. You get more points for eating all cells (169 point a pop) then for even destroying a swirl. When the shield is blue or pink the swirl fires 3 times as often, and sometimes instantly. when the shield is grey or pink, it starts changing direction to hit you. It can't reverse completely, and cannot aim right at all, but can otherwise change directions as many times as needed. It changes direction when it gets to where you were when it fired, and sets the next direction change point then.198.153.92.254 (talk) 05:20, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

Best selling[edit]
At the beginning of the article it is written that the game is "Yars' Revenge was Atari's best-selling original title for the 2600". What exactly does that mean? - @Alancarv: "Your original" means you originated the work at hand. Not licensed from elsewhere, not a remake, not a clone, not a port. It's an original game made at Atari. So, maybe Pac Man, made at Atari, had even more sales, but it was licensed from elsewhere and isn't their original property. — Smuckola(talk) 03:27, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
